Rob Buchan and Pete Shuttleworth have known each other since they were seven. They both arrived in London in the 1990s and shared a house for most of their 20s, at a time when London felt like the best place in the world to live. Both of them were looking to make an impression on a city full of entrepreneurial possibilities. Their paths have crossed for decades but this is the first time they’ve exhibited their art together.
Rob Buchan & Pete Shuttleworth “Moo at the Moon” is at J/M Gallery in Notting Hill, London from 11th until 17th June, 2025. The exhibition will feature a new series of prints and paintings by both artists.
Pete Shuttleworth is a screen-printer who now lives in Brighton with his family and Irish Terrier. While
studying at Goldsmiths and London College of Printing, Pete became influenced by artists like Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol. His work now aims to build a bridge between more traditional painting and the semi-mechanical process of screen printing. Pete prints by hand, working with transparent colours to create new combinations when they are printed over the top of each other. He also publishes the What3Words address to identify exactly where each painting comes from.
“Printmaking is totally absorbing, like building a puzzle. want to make each mark count.” Pete Shuttleworth

Rob Buchan
Rob works from Wimbledon Studios where his space is often lit with UV experiments,
luminous cartoons and set models. His cartoons often become multi-layered paintings of the
weird and wonderful creatures that live in his imagination. There is a spooky theme to many of
these, which live by the light of the Moon. Several key characters have also been turned into
children’ s books. Rob’s work combines a sense of ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ with his early
love of artists like Mordillo and Gilbert Shelton who drew Fat Freddy’s Cat and the Fabulous Furry Freakbrothers .
“I started drawing in the margins in school and never really stopped. It’s like my brain on paper.” Rob Buchan

Rob Buchan & Pete Shuttleworth “Moo at the Moon” is at J/M Gallery, 230 Portobello Road, London from 11th until 17th June, 2025.
