A brand-new 360° show celebrating 50 years of Aardman animation will open at Lightroom in London this October. London’s Lightroom has announced a major new immersive production celebrating the beloved characters of Aardman, including Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, and Morph.

Titled Larger Than Life: Starring Wallace & Gromit, Shaun and More, the new immersive experience will open on 14th October 2026 at Lightroom in King’s Cross, marking the 50th anniversary of Aardman.

The 50-minute looping show invites audiences to step inside the anarchic and joyful worlds of the iconic stop-motion studio, combining classic scenes from Aardman’s films with never-before-seen archival material and newly created animation designed specifically for the immersive venue.

Projected across Lightroom’s four 11-metre-high walls and floor, the experience uses state-of-the-art technology to bring the studio’s painstaking stop-motion process to life, revealing how beloved characters and films are built one tiny movement at a time.

A new way to experience Aardman

The production explores the story behind Aardman’s creative journey—from the kitchen table experiments of founders Peter Lord and David Sproxton, to some of the studio’s most memorable moments, including the legendary train chase in Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers.

Visitors will also gain a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of the animation process, with giant projections of sets, miniature props and animator workspaces revealing the meticulous craft behind the studio’s films.

It’s a thrill to see Aardman’s worlds leap off the screen and into this spectacular immersive experience,” Park said. “Now, fans can step inside Wallace’s invention shed or join Shaun and the flock in a way that truly captures the tactile spirit of Aardman.”

The magic of what we do at Aardman is not about making things move, it’s about making them live,” he said. “This immersive journey at Lightroom is a brilliant celebration of the art and craft—and the pure magic—of animation.”

Celebrating British animation

Created in collaboration with the Aardman production team, the show is written and designed by 59, a Journey studio and directed by design director Nicol Scott. The production joins Lightroom’s growing programme of immersive shows, which have already attracted more than 1.6 million visitors globally. The show celebrates 50 years of Aardman (1976–2026) and promises to immerse visitors in the joyful craft, humour and creativity that have defined the British animation studio for generations.

Visiting Aardman’s studios in Bristol is an amazing experience,” Sabel said. “At Lightroom we hope to recreate that feeling at scale—allowing audiences to both join the characters in their worlds and discover how those worlds are made.”
