A Unique Self-Funding Model Supporting the Restoration of the François I Wing
At Chambord, artistic and cultural programming serves a dual purpose: enhancing the visitor experience while contributing directly to the preservation of the monument. This self-funding model, rare among France’s major heritage sites, enables the Château to finance a significant share of its conservation and restoration projects through revenues generated by cultural events. Today, the François I Wing requires extensive restoration work to address structural deterioration and ensure its long-term preservation. The funds generated through Chambord’s cultural activities, complemented by donations and patronage, contribute to this major undertaking and help safeguard an exceptional architectural legacy for future generations.
