As a major retrospective of Taboo host and artist Leigh Bowery opens at Tate Modern and images from iconic style bible The Face lands at the National Portrait Gallery, club culture, avant-garde art and fashion of the 80s and 90s is having a moment in the spotlight. Meanwhile, artist, activist and living sculpture Daniel Lismore is leading an avant-garde movement of creatives shaping style and fashion of the noughties and onwards. His eclectic circle of friends and collaborators rose to the occasion of a ‘come dressed as an artistic movement’ dress code, arriving at MOCO Museum in London’s Marble Arch wearing the most fabulous creations representing the Surrealist, Art Nouveau, Pop Art, Pre-Raphaelite Abstract Expressionist and other key moments from art history.

Daniel Lismore marked his 40th birthday with a spectacular celebration at the Moco Museum, London, raising awareness and funds for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Co-hosted by Lismore and Kim and Lionel Logchies, founders of Moco Museum in London, Barcelona, and Amsterdam, the exclusive event welcomed 500 guests from across the worlds of art, fashion, music, politics and philanthropy for a night of creativity, advocacy, and celebration. Lismore’s guests embraced the evening’s dress code, “Your Favourite Art Movement,” arriving in striking interpretations of Surrealist dreams, Baroque masterpieces, Dadaist statements, and Pop Art icons.

The evening unfolded against an extraordinary backdrop of works by some of the world’s most celebrated artists, including Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jeff Koons, Banksy, Tracey Emin, and Marina Abramović, a fitting setting for a celebration at the intersection of art and activism. A breathtaking floral sculpture by artist Yan Skates served as the evening’s centerpiece, seamlessly blending nature with avant-garde aesthetics. The guest list featured royal families, A-list celebrities, club kids, pop stars, religious leaders, politicians, bankers, philanthropists, art collectors, and rising artists, all gathered to honor Lismore’s milestone birthday. The night pulsed with energy as Boy George, Jodie Harsh, Tolula Adeyemi, Will Kayll, and Lady G curated a euphoric soundtrack that kept the party alive until dawn.

Lismore took a heartfelt moment to reflect on his longstanding advocacy for HIV/AIDS awareness, sharing personal stories from his work with charities in Kenya and the devastating loss of close friends to the disease. His speech underscored the ongoing need for support, awareness, and action in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Produced by Karlo Baker, the event was made possible with the generous support of Palmarae, Helix Vodka, Mary Mary Bloody Mary’s, Prime Time Beer, and Orientalist Spirits, ensuring a night where art, fashion, and philanthropy merged in spectacular form. Lismore’s 40th birthday was more than just a celebration, it was a powerful statement on the importance of creativity, activism, and supporting the fight against HIV/AIDS.
